Kirriemuir And The Glens Partnership Established

THE new community partnership for Kirriemuir and the Glens is now formally established.

The partnership's successful, well attended inaugural meeting followed a series of exploratory meetings to find out what local people wanted and could expect from such a partnership.

The new partnership brings together a number of local residents, representatives from a broad range of community groups, businesses and public sector agencies. Those involved bring a wealth of expertise, enthusiasm and knowledge from various sectors to the partnership and are committed to working together to improve the town and the glens area.

Working groups are now preparing information for further discussion on three key subjects: the promotion of the area and its attractions, the regeneration of the town centre and opportunities for young people. The findings will be subject to discussion at the next meeting when the partnership will decide on the action needed to take forward the groups' work.

The next meeting is on Monday 22 March 2004 at 7.30pm in the Town Hall, Kirriemuir and office bearers for the partnership will be selected at that meeting. Nominations for office bearers, including a short biography, should be submitted to Eileen Jackson the local community planning officer on 01307 473786, or by e-mail at jacksone@angus.gov.uk, before the March meeting.

Partnership membership is open to local residents, community and voluntary organisations, businesses and any public sector agency with an interest in working together in partnership to improve the area economically, environmentally and socially.

Anyone who would like more information or is interested in becoming involved in the new partnership is asked to contact Eileen Jackson.
