Food Glorious Food.....
Mouth-watering dishes to tempt the palate, fresh home-grown produce, and the best of Angus beef, fruit and fish - all this and more is showcased at the first Forfar Food Fest.
Organised by Angus Ahead, the area marketing campaign set up to promote Angus locally, nationally and internationally, and the Towns Promotion Programme, Forfar Food Fest is a partnership of producers, retailers, restaurateurs working together to raise awareness of the feast of healthy tasty food available on our own doorstep.
This is a two-day festival - the first on Friday 30 July at Glamis Castle when Angus plays host to over 250 cattle breeders from all over the world celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society with a Taste of Angus reception.
The second day takes place at The Myre, Forfar on Saturday 31 July from 10am to 4pm with quality local produce on sale at the Angus Farmers Market, tastings to tempt any palate and the culinary skills of our local Councillors on show as they duel it out with the help of local chefs in a "Cook Along A Councillor Contest".
Join in the fun of the Kiddies Korner - complete with face painting, competitions and bouncy castle, take part in cookery demonstrations with a difference using local produce to turn out Indian dishes, try out traditional fudge making, sing-along-a Radio Tay with the Ally and Mo Show, and sample the new Taste of Angus Sausage devised to celebrate the first Forfar Food Fest.
The motivation behind Forfar Food Fest is two-fold. Firstly, by encouraging consumers to eat Scottish produce we support our local retailers, and revitalise the local economies that surround them.
Secondly we bring the benefits of fresh, high quality produce to more people. This is good for the environment, good for the producer and good for the consumer who knows exactly where their food has come from.
