Angus Brothers Barrie Premiere

ANGUS men Archie Jamieson of Trinity, by Brechin and David Jamieson of Arbroath will attend the Scottish Premiere of the new film "Finding Neverland" at the Odeon Dundee on Tuesday (19 October).

Starring Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet and Dustin Hoffman, the film tells the tale of Kirriemuir born playwright Sir JM Barrie and the events that inspired him to write Peter Pan.

The Jamieson brothers have a special interest in the film, as their great-grandfather and JM Barrie's father were brothers. "I am very interested in seeing the film", said David. "There has been an upsurge of interest in Barrie's work recently." Archie and David's other brother Harry, of Kirriemuir, will miss the premiere as he is in the USA.

Angus Provost, Bill Middleton commented: "Angus has a strong connection with Kirriemuir born JM Barrie and his work. I am sure many people will be keen to visit the house of birth following the premiere, and the National Trust for Scotland are opening it specially over the weekend of 23 - 24 October. I hope people will take the opportunity to visit the house, where it is believed that he staged some early plays when a child. Visitors to Kirriemuir will also be able to see the Peter Pan statue in the town centre. It is highly appropriate that the children's charity Caring For Kids will benefit from these events."

Tickets for the premier are available from the Odeon, Dundee at £10 each. Entry to Barrie's birthplace costs £5 and £3.75 for concessions.
