Revamped Beech Hill Opening

The new care centre for older people at Beech Hill House in Forfar has been officially opened by Angus Council's Social Work and Health Convener Glennis Middleton.

Beech Hill House was originally converted into a residential home in 1954, and after a two year project has been completely refurbished as part of the Forfar and Kirriemuir Community Resource Centre project.

The care home offers residential accommodation for 16 older people within two units, and day-care to eight highly dependent older people.

In addition, four community social care officer (SCO) teams are based within the unit.

The new facility compliments the existing very sheltered housing complex, Beech Hill Court, which is situated on the same site in Lour Road, Forfar.

Councillor Middleton said: "I am delighted that the partnership between NHS Tayside and Angus Council, this building has seen Beech Hill House substantially rebuilt and modernised.

"These fantastic new facilities will provide a comfortable and well-appointed accommodation to meet the needs of older people resident here, and those attending day-care or staying for a period of respite.

"I am confident that the investment by Angus Council and NHS Tayside in this new facility, alongside the new Whitehills Hospital development, has created a Community Resource Centre that the people of Forfar and Angus can be proud of, and that will serve them well in the years to come."
