Car Park Rule Reminder for Shoppers

As Christmas fast approaches, and shoppers are out in force across the county, motorists are being reminded of the rules governing car parks in Angus.

There are ten short-stay car parks in Angus: North Port and West Abbey Street, Arbroath; Church Street, Market Street and Maisondieu Lane East, Brechin; High Street, Carnoustie; Green Street, Forfar; Glengate and Reform Street, Kirriemuir; and Baltic Street, Montrose.

The maximum length of stay allowed at these car parks is two hours, and the council's roads section is advising motorists that there will be no relaxation of the rules over the festive period.

Staff will be out and about checking car parks and enforcing the penalties for exceeding the time limit - £6 up to an extra hour, rising to £30 for more than one hour.

Motorists are also reminded that it is an offence to park outside marked bays or in disabled bays, in any of the council's car parks, and again these rules will be enforced as normal over the coming weeks, with a penalty charge of £30 being issued for these offences.
