Christmas Magic At Kirriemuir Gateway Museum

As part of its Christmas season, Kirriemuir Gateway to the Glens Museum has on show a number of original artworks by the late Edmund Caswell.

They depict memorable scenes from Sir J M Barrie’s timeless stage play, Peter Pan, and are similar in style to the famous mural created by Edmund Caswell for Great Ormond Street hospital for sick children London and unveiled Christmas 1988.

Pantomime is one Christmas tradition, the sending of Christmas cards another.

The museum has been fortunate in being able to display for the Christmas season a number of Christmas post cards from a private collection.

These show many and differing sides of Christmas greetings ranging from 19th century humour, to emotive First World War seasonal post cards. Also on show within this display is part of a King George V, pillar post box.
