Winning Public Sector Contracts

An event next Wednesday (21 May) aims to help local businesses take greatest advantage of procurement opportunities with the public sector.

The Supplier Development Programme event is being run by Angus and Perth & Kinross councils and aims to assist all businesses by helping them be more informed about the procurement processes of public sector organisations.

The half-day event next week offers companies guidance on the following procurement topics:

The Supplier Development Programme, which also operates elsewhere in Scotland, was established to both promote public procurement opportunities with councils and other public sector agencies and work with local companies to prepare them to bid for contracts.

Commenting on the programme Angus Council’s Infrastructure Services convener David May said: “All local authorities and other public sector agencies have to get value for money when purchasing goods and services but we are also keen to see local companies get a fair share of the business.

“The Supplier Development Programme aims to help companies be best prepared to bid for contracts so I hope local companies will take advantage of the opportunity this event offers.”

Under the new programme the local business community will be able to benefit from a range of initiatives including local and national ‘Meet the Buyer’ events; seminars and training programmes; inclusion in supplier registers and identification of sub-contract opportunities.

The event runs from 9.30 (registration from 9am) until 12.45 at Next Generation in Monifieth and is open to all local businesses. To book a place call Fiona Cameron at 01307 473339.
