Gallery Talk At Meffan

This Saturday (7 June), visitors to the Meffan in Forfar can learn more about the current exhibition dedicated to local artist James Watterston Herald.

A gallery talk/tour on the Herald exhibition by Julie Brown, one of the post-graduate students from the University of St Andrews who curated the show, takes place at 2pm.

The exhibition, which runs until Saturday 21 June, aims to shed light upon his life and art using sketchbooks, letters and other archival material recently donated to the St Andrews Museum Collections, as well as a wide selection of paintings and drawings on loan from private collectors and galleries.

The exhibition complements the permanent display of Herald’s paintings and pastels in the stairwell of the Meffan, and offers an opportunity for fans of Herald’s work to re-acquaint themselves with some old favourites and a chance to see works that are not usually in the public domain

Visitors planning to see the exhibition are advised to call The Meffan on 01307 464124 in advance of their visit, as gallery 2 is occasionally used as a venue for meetings and is unavailable to the public at these times.

The Meffan is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, admission is free.
