Council Launches Children's Summer Sports Programme

Children throughout Angus will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sports and activities this summer, organised under the council's Active Angus scheme.

The programme, which runs from 6 July until 14 August, includes all Angus Council leisure facility activities, sports coaching, dance workshops, the rural summer active club, Angus SFA summer football, and sport and recreation for people with a disability.

Launching the programme at Arbroath Sports Centre today, Monday 29 June, Councillor Colin Brown, vice-convener of neighbourhood services said: "The Active Angus scheme provides a wide range of sports and activities to suit young people of all ages and abilities. We hope that youngsters all over the county will enjoy taking part in the Active Angus scheme during their school holidays."

The Active Angus 2009 programme has been distributed to all Angus primary schools and is also available at all Angus Council leisure facilities, country parks, libraries, museums and ACCESS offices.
