Winter Winners at The Meffan

The Meffan Winter Exhibition has been proving popular with visitors to the Forfar Gallery with 275 exhibits on display by both professional and amateur artists.

The amateur category winner has now been decided by a public vote.

The votes have now been counted and the winning painting in the amateur category is 'Jack' by Esther Bruce from Forfar who wins £250.

In addition, all the ballot papers were put into a draw and the first name out of the hat was Eleanor Archer from Brechin, who wins a bottle of malt whisky.

The winners in the professional category were decided by a panel of professional artists, and were announced at the opening of the exhibition. First prize of £500 being awarded to Barry McGlashan for his oil on canvas work entitled "Odyssey".

Second prize of £200 went to William Moulding for his untitled silkscreen monoprint, whilst the third prize was split three ways with £100 going to Rachael Bibby for her oil painting "Jim", Keith Byres for his oil on canvas "The Roup" and to Catherine Sargeant for her screenprint "Burnes Drop the 'E'".
