Emergency Road Repairs

Angus Council is warning motorists and pedestrians that it is going to take some time to carry out all of the necessary repairs to the county's road network following the big freeze.

Infrastructure Services convener David May urged people to call ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778 to tell the council about any road and pavement damage.

"Obviously the roads team is inspecting the network damage but the public can help us by reporting potholes and disrupted pavements," said councillor May.

"However people need to be aware that the extent of the frost damage means that we will have to prioritise the work. Minor repairs may take longer and in some areas repairs will be temporary until the ground thaws out enough for effective repairs to be done.

"I would ask residents to bear with us and to take extra care when out and about as it is going to take time to repair the uneven pavements and road surfaces across every part of the county."

Councillor May emphasised that the priority was to get the roads and pavements back into shape saying; "The severe winter has obviously been a drain on the roads budget, and there are still a few months to go. However our priority is to keep the network running as smoothly and safely as possible - if that means using repairs and contingency funds so be it, that's what they are for."
