Tender Accepted For New Monifieth Community Learning & Development Centre
Muirfield (Contracts) Ltd has been awarded the £541,556 contract for the alteration and extension of Monifieth High School to create a new community learning and development centre for the burgh.
The council's Corporate Services Committee (Thursday 28 January) approved the tender for the construction of the single story extension to the school. The new part of the building will house a café/venue area, activity rooms and recording studio in addition to an office, storage areas and toilets.
Commenting on the project Corporate Services vice-convener John Whyte said the new building would be an asset to the Monifieth community.
"Not only will the new centre be a valuable addition to the facilities in the burgh," said councillor Whyte, "the construction project is a welcome economic boost for the local building sector."
The overall project cost is £668,576. This covers all construction costs, including paths, car parking and extended playground areas, and the costs of furniture, services and equipment.
