Consultation on Cumberland Close, Kirriemuir

Monday 18 March 2024

We want people in Kirriemuir to have their say on the possible renaming of Cumberland Close.

Angus Council received a petition to rename the street. Following discussion at the Council meeting in December (see Report No 351/23), it was agreed in principle that a change of name could be considered.

Cumberland Close, Kirriemuir

But we know the strength of feeling about this issue in Kirriemuir and want to consult the town’s residents so they can decide if a change should be made.

A survey, for Kirriemuir residents only, is available from today - Monday 18 March - until Sunday 21 April.

There are a number of ways for Kirrie residents to have their say –

  • Take part in the Cumberland Close, Kirriemuir Survey on Engage Angus, where details of the petition, the proposal and reasons for the potential renaming of the street can also be found.
  • Email comments to Roads@angus.gov.uk
  • Complete a paper copy of the survey, which is available at Kirriemuir Library, Town Hall, Reform Street, Kirriemuir, along with details of the petition, the proposal and reasons for the potential renaming of the street.
  • Write to our Roads and Transportation team at Angus House, Angus House, Silvie Way, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar, DD8 1AN.

The outcome of the consultation will be reported to a future meeting of Full Council, where resident’s views will inform the final decision on the street’s name. Any representations may be published.
