The National Parent Forum of Scotland
The National Parent Forum of Scotland was established at the end of 2009. It followed research and consultation with Parent Councils across Scotland as to how they wanted their voice represented at national level. The Forum is parent-led, independent of Scottish Government and comprises of one nominated parent council representative from each of Scotland's 32 local authority areas.
The Forum has been set up to ensure that the Parent Voice is fully represented on all matters relating to our children's education. Forum representatives will bring parents views to the table where this was not previously the case. Some areas they have been involved in so far are:
Curriculum for Excellence, Development of the new Qualifications, Class Size Review, Additional Support Needs, General Teaching Council for Scotland, School Closure Consultations.
