Every summer, the council holds a competition for its tenants to recognise well-kept gardens throughout the district.

What is the council Garden Awards?
Angus Council runs the Annual Council House Garden Awards with prizes being presented for the best gardens in each housing area (Arbroath, Carnoustie & Monifieth, Brechin & Montrose and Forfar & Kirriemuir). A prize giving ceremony, hosted by the Convener of Neighbourhood Services, is held towards the end of the summer for all nominations with winners being announced on the day.
What are the prizes?
There are three prizes within each housing area which includes a certificate and a cash prize for each winner - the first and second prize winners also receive a trophy which they keep until the following year's competition. In addition, there is a prize for the best garden throughout Angus (overall winner) and the Director's Special Award is presented to the tenant who has maintained their garden to an extremely high standard in exceptional circumstances.
How do I apply for the Competition?
You can self nominate, nominate a friend or neighbour, you Local Community Planning Team and Local Housing Officers nominate gardens to be judged in the competition. You can apply or nominate by speaking to a member of staff in your local ACCESS Officeby contacting ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778 or your Local Community Planning with the details.
Angus Council staff from the Environmental Management Division within Neighbourhood Services, judge the competition in July.
