Local Access Forum
The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 established statutory Access Rights over much of Scotland's land. The Act requires Angus Council to establish an Access Forum for the council area (but excluding the area within the Cairngorms National Park).
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Local Access Forum?
The Forum is an independent advisory group which may give advice to the council and others on access issues such as Access Rights, Rights of Way and the Core Paths Plan. The Forum should contain a balance of people with recreational, land management and community interests.
When was the Angus Local Access Forum set up?
An introductory seminar and workshop were held in Arbroath during Autumn 2004. Applications for membership were sought, and selection meetings for each of three interest groups (users, land managers and community) were held during March 2005. Members were subsequently appointed, and the Forum held its first meeting in June 2005.
