Housing Support (Social Work)
The Housing Support Service helps you to live as independently as possible at home, by supporting you to develop or maintain the skills you need to keep your tenancy.
This can include support with tasks such as:
- budgeting;
- dealing with your post; and
- keeping your home safe and secure.
We can also give you support when you return home after a stay in hospital, or help you to move to new accommodation where you can continue to live independently. The service is provided by our Housing Support Workers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where and when is the service available?
The service is available throughout Angus between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, but we may be able to provide a service outwith these times if we have assessed that you need this.
Who can receive the housing support service?
We will carry out an assessment and decide whether the housing support service could meet your needs. The assessment will take account of your health and social circumstances, and whether you need this type of support to live as independently as possible in your own home. We will agree with you the skills you want to develop or maintain, and we will carry out regular reviews to monitor your progress with this.
How we choose housing support workers?
We have a selection procedure that applies to all staff. It includes a number of checks we must make to make sure that the staff we employ are suitable.
What can I expect from the service?
- We will provide the service in a way that respects your home and belongings, and your privacy, dignity and individuality.
- We will also provide the service in line with the National Care Standards for Housing Support.
- Housing support workers will receive training so that they can carry out their role effectively.
How much will the service cost?
If we have assessed you as needing housing support, we may ask you to pay towards the cost of the service.
Our charging policy is based on the principle that the level of service you receive is based on your needs and not on your ability to pay. We will only charge for the service if your income is over a certain amount.
Following a financial assessment, you may not have to pay anything at all, or we may ask you to pay towards the cost.
