Child and Vulnerable Adult Safety
In terms of safety and security, parents and guardians need to be assured that the safety of their children and other loved ones is absolute.
Sports & Countryside Services are committed to promoting and developing services that offer the highest standards. All staff are given training on dealing with child and vulnerable adult protection issues and all are vetted through the national Disclosure agency before being employed. This includes all coaches who undertake coaching programmes on behalf of Sports & Countryside, whether it be in any of the sports facilities or at other locations in Angus. Staff are expected to follow Policy Guidelines and Procedures (325 KB PDF).
Through our coach education programme we also offer opportunities for coaches and helpers to learn more about child protection issues. As part of the course material candidates receive a copy of the Quick Guidelines Pocket Guide (40 KB PDF).
Sports & Countryside Services also wish to help with safety and security within the sports club set up here in Angus. Subsequently, in conjunction with Angus Sports Council, we have developed the Angus Club Excellence Awards (ACE), an accreditation system that recognises sports clubs that are committed to providing a safe, effective, child-friendly environment.
The ACE award has three stages to allow smaller clubs to work up through the levels with the aim of achieving the highest standard. We aim to ensure that all clubs who use our facilities have an ACE Award.
