The Fergus Programme
This is a specialist probation programme for people who have been convicted of offences involving domestic abuse. Offenders will usually have a condition to attend the Fergus Programme as part of their probation order or licence following release from prison.
This programme can help individuals understand why they have been physically or emotionally violent or abusive to their partner.
All group and individual sessions must be attended, as directed by the social worker who is supervising their probation order. The sessions are held locally and involve two workers from the Angus Council Social Work Criminal Justice Service. Sessions are weekly and individuals must attend for at least 20 weekly sessions.
Whilst offenders are attending the Fergus Programme, support will be given to their partners or ex-partners by a support worker from Action for Children.
