Veterans First is a partnership between Angus Council, SSAFA, The Royal British Legion Scotland and the Angus Community Planning Partnership. The partnership offers a co-ordinated response to the needs of personnel who have left or who are in the process of leaving the military and are seeking advice, assistance or sign posting from the major public service providers.
The idea and drive of Veterans First is to empower service personnel and their families to take advantage of the support on offer from within the Angus area.
This support is open to all those who have served in the British military and to their families. We welcome enquiries from anyone regardless of the length of their service and whether or not they currently live in Angus or wish to live in Angus.
Support is vital when finding the means to settle into a new home, work and social environment following military service. This transition to civilian life is challenging, regardless of how long someone has spent in service and their reasons for leaving. The aim is to help veterans and their families overcome these challenges by supporting access to information and advice on housing, health, employability, careers and welfare.
