Introduction
The current Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils was adopted by Angus Council on 13 December 2012 and came into effect on 1 January 2013.
To ensure that the scheme continues to meet the needs of both Angus Council and community councils, a further review is to be undertaken. The review will be undertaken in accordance with Section 53 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973.
The public consultation on the proposed amendments will commence on the 22 November 2021 and the council would welcome representations or comments on these amendments to the scheme from any interested person or body as per the timetable below. All representations received during the course of the review will be published on this website.
Timetable for Review
The timetable for the review is as follows:

22 November 2021 | Initial public consultation phase commences |
10 January 2022 | Initial public consultation phase closes |
10 January 2022 to 19 January 2022 | Representations and comments received during initial consultation phase reviewed and further amendments made to the scheme, if required. |
20 January 2022 | Second public consultation phase commences |
17 March 2022 | Second public consultation phase closes |
Next available full council meeting | Final proposed amendments to the scheme submitted to Angus Council for approval |
