Sketch one – Voting at an election
Props: Ballot box, booth, ballot paper
- A white Poll Card will be sent before the election. “Poll” means vote.
- The Poll card tells you when the election is and where the polling place is.
- A Polling place is where you vote. It can be a school, a hall or community centre
- Take your Poll card to the polling place.
- You will get a ballot paper and shown to a booth
- Follow the instructions and make your choice
- There may be two elections on the same day. You will get two ballot papers.
- There will be different instructions for each ballot paper.
- The staff will help you but only you can make your choice.
Sketch two – Applying for a Postal Vote
Props: Application form
- You can get a postal vote. This means you do not have to go to the polling place.
- You will fill in a form to register.
- You must register 11 working days before an election.
- You can download it by clicking the link onto www.yourvotematters.co.uk
- You will also get a form from the Electoral Registration Office
- You can e-mail them on angus@tayside-vjb.gov.uk
- Ballot papers will be sent to your home address.
- You make your choice at home and post the ballot papers back.
