How to become a foster carer

We realise becoming a foster carer is a big decision so we're always happy to answer any questions you have at any stage in the process.

The first step

Come along to one of our events or use our enquiry form to register your interest, ask questions or request an information leaflet.

Home visit

Once you have made an enquiry and are interested in finding out more, we will call you with a view to arranging a home visit. 

Preparation training

The next stage after the home visit is preparation training. This takes place over two or three days and really gives you a feel for what fostering is all about. After the preparation training we will reach a decision together about applying to become a foster carer. 

How long it takes

From then the process usually takes around six months.
