You can enjoy access rights on most land, but paths and path networks to make it easier to enjoy the outdoors.
Paths around towns
We have created path networks around the main towns, where most people live.

We work with local community groups such as the Sidlaw Path Network group, who have developed paths around their own communities.
Coastal path
The coast is one of Angus’ best natural features. We have been building a coastal path to make it more accessible. The path from Arbroath to Carnoustie and Monifieth is part of National Cycle Route 1.
From Arbroath to Auchmithie the path follows dramatic sea cliffs, and is only suitable for walkers.
North of Auchmithie several core paths link together to take you to Lunan Bay and Inverkeillor.
Further north parts of the coast are in the Montrose path network. We hope to extend the path along more of the coast in the future.
The Glens
Some of our most dramatic scenery is in the Angus Glens. We have worked with the Cairngorms National Park Authority to produce walking leaflets for Glen Clova and Glen Esk.
Core paths plan
We have also prepared a core paths plan for Angus. This identifies a basic framework of paths throughout Angus.
We are working towards signposting the core paths network and making other improvements to their accessibility.
