As COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease, we are looking to secure a company to run the West Links park and attractions at Arbroath for the next five years.
The renewed invitation is made more than a year after the original invitation to tender. In the time since, there have been no formal expressions of interest in operating the long-established seaside park.
Redevelopment of the park is set to be carried out in the coming months thanks to £212,000 of Town Centre Funding. While plans have yet to be set in stone and discussions continue with local elected members, the funding will go towards the creation of a Crazy Golf attraction at the West Links. Plans will be submitted in due course.
Once appointed, the recreations operator would be responsible for facilities that include the crazy golf, mini-cars, putting, pitch and putt, a quad bike track, tennis courts and public toilets.
During COVID-19 restrictions, only the toilets at West Links have been available to the public, managed by Tayside Contracts. They operate seasonally (re-opening on 1 April, with a disabled toilet accessible by RADAR key).
We would also welcome any serious offer to further invest in the location, whether or not it is directly related with the management of the play park and attractions.
Recent reports that firm offers for the further development of attractions on the West Links have been made to the Council are not correct. While we have held discussions with third parties in relation to potential development, no formal proposals have been received. We remain open and receptive to any formal approach.
