Angus Council is proud to support Adoption Week Scotland, running from 3 to 7 November 2025. The week aims to raise awareness of adoption in Scotland, highlight available support and encourage anyone interested in adopting to take the first step.
To mark the week, the council’s Fostering and Adoption Team will host two information events:
- Drop-in Information Session: Tuesday 4 November, 1–4pm, Monifieth Activity Centre, Monifieth
- Online webinar: Thursday 6 November, 6–7pm.
Both sessions are open to anyone curious about adoption, whether you’re just starting to think about it or ready to take the next step.
Convener of Family, Education and Justice, Cllr Heather Doran said:
“We want every child in Angus to grow up in a loving home and have the best possible start in life. For some of our children in care, when they can’t stay with their birth families, adoption can offer the stability and love they need to reach their full potential.
“Adoption Week is an important opportunity to shine a light on the difference adoption can make, giving children the chance to feel safe, supported and part of a family. It’s a life changing journey, both for children and for the families who welcome them.
“I’d encourage anyone who has ever thought about adoption to come along to one of our events or get in touch with the team to find out more.”
Adoptive parent Jill shared her experience of adopting:
“The most rewarding part of adoption has been watching our child grow into exactly who they're meant to be and knowing we get to be part of their journey. Seeing trust, love and connection develop over time, especially knowing what it took to get there, has been the greatest gift.
“Adoption brought us together, but love, laughter, and shared experiences have made us a family. There's something incredibly special about seeing your child feel truly at home.”
