Becoming a Councillor

Published on Monday 7 March 2022

Local Government elections take place of Thursday 5 May and if you think you are the best person to represent your local community, why not join us for a virtual event this Wednesday?

We’re holding a briefing for potential candidates About Becoming A Councillor at 6pm on Wednesday 9 March via Microsoft Teams and there’s still time to register. Please email elections@angus.gov.uk to register if you are thinking of standing for election and want to attend.

You don't need to be affiliated to a political party to stand for election as you can stand as an independent candidate, or on behalf of a political party.

Nominations for the upcoming local elections will be accepted from 10am Tuesday 15 March up until 4pm on Wednesday 30 March. Meantime, you can find lots of information at our dedicated Candidate and Agents Hub.

You'll find lots of useful information and key dates about the Local Government Elections on 5 May on our website.
