Buying tobacco for young people?

Monday 13 November 2017

Did you know that adolescents get dependent on nicotine faster than adults?

Every day 36 young people in Scotland start smoking. Most get cigarettes from people they know. That is illegal.

We’re supporting #NOTAFAVOUR.SCOT, the national campaign that aims to reduce the illegal supply of tobacco and e-cigarettes to under-18s. It is part of a wider campaign to get Scotland tobacco free by 2034.

Not A Favour

Our Trading Standards officers have already hosted one pop-up event at Montrose Sports Centre and have three more tobacco sales information events planned elsewhere in Angus. All are welcome.

Trading Standards will be at the following venues between 10 and 4pm –

Brechin Community Campus on Wed 15 Nov.

Arbroath Sports Centre, Wed 22 Nov.

Forfar Community Campus, Tues 28 Nov.

This campaign runs alongside a Scottish Government funded local Trading Standards awareness of Challenge 25 – Be Prepared to show ID for tobacco products.
