An Angus school has been shortlisted to win an all-expenses paid trip to Majorca.
The P6/7 class at Liff Primary are through to the final of the Jet2holidays Ultimate School Trip competition after entering a video animation. The school is one of only five schools to make it to the Edinburgh regional final.
Nine UK schools in total – one from each region in which Jet2holidays operates – will win a place on the Ultimate School Trip to Sol Katmandu Park and Resort in Majorca.
The long weekend trip in April promises to be both fun and educational, including workshops which will focus on science, history, drama and crafts, as well as giving pupils all the excitement you would expect from a school trip overseas. Workshops will be hosted by celebrities, including children’s TV stars Dick and Dom.
Head teacher, Mrs Jan Hughes said: “There’s a real buzz in our school since we heard the news. Our children worked so hard on their entry, and have done brilliantly in getting through to the final. What an amazing opportunity this would be if they won this trip. We are a small school and are asking as many people as possible from across Angus, Tayside – and beyond - to get behind them and vote.”
Children and Learning Convenor, Councillor Mark Salmond said: “Congratulations to all of the young people on being shortlisted in this national competition, what a fantastic achievement. I’d like to echo the head teacher’s words and ask as many people as possible to vote. Liff may be a small school and competing against much larger schools in a public vote, but I know that there’s a fantastic community spirit in Angus and across Tayside and I’m sure the public will get behind them.”
The winners will be decided by public vote. Voting opens on Monday 12 March until Friday 16 March. The only way to vote is online and only takes a few seconds: http://ultimateschooltrip.jet2holidays.com/
