Countdown underway for Choice-based Lettings System

Published on Tuesday 13 October 2020

Our new housing allocation system – Angus Homefinder – which aims to put the power of choice in the hands of Angus home seekers – launches next month.

In preparation for this Choice-based Lettings System and as we move services online, we will no longer accept paper housing application forms from Friday 16 October.

Launch date for Angus Homefinder is Monday 2 November. From that date home seekers will be able to apply for housing online via our new Angus Homefinder website.

It is important to stress that anyone with an urgent need for housing before 2 November and who requires housing options assistance should contact ACCESSLine on 03452 777 778 for an appointment and assistance.

The Choice-based Lettings System will see the Council and its housing partners – Blackwood Homes, Caledonia Housing Association, and Hillcrest Homes – advertise properties for let to registered applicants on a single website – Angus Homefinder.

Applicants can bid online for the properties where they want to live.

Angus Homefinder, produced by Home Connections and working with the Angus Common Housing Register Partnership, aims to give people as much informed choice as possible about where they want to live and to make that process simple and fair.

It has been created according to the specific needs of our local housing market and has been guided by feedback and comments from tenants and existing applicants.

Angus Council will advertise available homes and their details on the Angus Homefinder website from Monday 16 November, allowing people to bid for the properties they want.

Existing applicants will receive further details through the post in the coming weeks and be provided with more information nearer the launch date.

You can find more information on our choice-based lettings system on our website and there is also lots of information and advice on our dedicated Council and social housing webpage.
