Ferryden & Craig Community Council Election

Published on Wednesday 21 September 2022

Residents in Ferryden and Craig are asked to vote to elect candidates to their local Community Council on Thursday 6 October 2022.

The poll to elect nine community councillors for Ferryden and Craig takes place at Ferryden Primary School between 8am to 1pm and then 2pm to 8pm. A count will then be held on Monday 10 October before the first meeting of the “new” community council.

Poll cards will not be issued for this vote, with all people living in the area and on the Electoral Register as at 1 August 2022 entitled to vote.

This is the only community council election taking place in Angus at this time because there are more candidates than the number of community councillors required for Ferryden & Craig Community Council.

In other community council areas, candidates have been elected without the need for a poll as their numbers did not exceed the required number of community councillors. Details of their inaugural meetings can be found at our Community Council Elections 2022 webpages.

A lack of valid nominations in Friockheim & District; Lunanhead & District; Monikie & Newbigging; and the Royal Burgh of Forfar means that there will be no community councils established in these areas at this time.

However, any residents who want to establish a community council in these areas should contact the Returning Officer (Community Council elections), Election Office, Digital Reprographic Unit, Sylvie Way, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar, DD8 1AY or email elections@angus.gov.uk for further information.
