Young people in Angus have the chance to become Modern Apprentices (MA) with us, with 19 vacancies in various roles and departments available.
Modern apprenticeships give young people the chance to gain skills, experience and complete a recognised SVQ qualification, while earning a salary, with vacancies in departments such as Road & Assets and Digital Communication.
The vacancies are live on MyJobScotland website and close on 30 April, with successful applicants starting in August 2021.
Council Leader, David Fairweather said “I’m pleased we are once again able to offer MA opportunities across a number of our Council services for young people looking for the next step into training and work.
“MAs are a great way for young people to gain practical experience, skills and a qualification to support them on their career journey with the added benefits that working in the council brings, such as flexible working, health and wellbeing support, plus much more.”
Pippa Van Wees who started with the council as a MA in 2020, said: “I chose to do a modern apprenticeship over going to college or university because I felt like it was such a good opportunity as you are getting a qualification while working. I’ve loved every minute of it. If you’re considering applying for a modern apprenticeship I would one hundred percent go for it.”
And Kara Paul who started with the council as a MA, Education and Skills in 2020, added: “I chose a modern apprenticeship over college as I love the idea of being more hands on and learning new skills as well as being able to earn while I learn. This job has already allowed me to learn a lot of new skills and meet so many new people and gain a lot of confidence that I know I will continue to use throughout the rest of my work life.”
