Angus plays host to around 2000 cyclists this Saturday as they participate in the Ride the North Tour of Angus 2025.

The challenge – it’s a social event not a race - starts and ends at Glamis Castle, with participants wheeling their way through some of the county’s most picturesque, towns, villages and countryside.

It comes hard on the wheels of an extremely successful event in 2024 for both participants and the communities along the route who warmly welcomed them.

The event has forged partnerships with a number of charities over the years and the £2.6m raised for good causes so far, will be added to this year.

While there are no major road closures or diversion place during the challenge – which starts at 7am and ends at 6.30pm, there are three temporary traffic measures in place to ensure the safe running of the event. Signage and diversions will be in place locally.

These are –

  • Inverarity Road will be closed from 7-10.30am, from the u310 junction at Mill of Inverarity, across Inverarity bridge, to the U310 junction on the west side of Corbie burn – a distance of under 60m.
  • The south side of Letham Square will be closed between 7.30am and 12pm midday.
  • Brechin, High Street will be closed between 8.30am and 1.30pm from its junction with St David Street (A935) southwards for a distance of approximately 90m.

More generally, please be aware that the event is taking place and give it your due care and attention, in addition to the great support and hospitality that Angus residents provide.

From and to Glamis, participants will mostly be sticking to the more rural routes, visiting Inverarity, Monikie, Letham, Brechin, Edzell, Menmuir, Kirriemuir and Lintrathen along the way.
