After being postponed from October, the roadworks on the A923 Muirhead Gateway have been re-scheduled to take place from Monday 19 December and will last five working days. It will mean some restrictions for traffic.
The work is part of our proposal to implement a traffic calming scheme on a trial basis on the A923 at the north end of Muirhead village.
The scheme involves having a priority system where vehicles coming into Muirhead will have to give way to vehicles exiting the village. A traffic island with a cycle bypass will be installed in the eastbound lane with associated give way markings and advance warning signs. The existing centre line road markings will also be amended to suit the speed limit of 30mph.
The traffic calming trial will last up to 12 months. The trial means Angus residents will be able to have first-hand experience of the traffic changes. If the changes are not working, there is a chance to modify or withdraw the measures.
