‘Marty the Robot’ is an educational robot which has been chosen as the main engagement tool due to its adaptability, scalability, engagement factor and durability.
Programming robotics and engineering will be taught using ‘Marty’.
A final project will consolidate the learning and allow learners to showcase their new coding capabilities with the wider community.
This initiative will develop a series of new after-school ‘Digi-Clubs’ and family learning opportunities to teach the basics of coding and computational thinking using robots to engage primary school age children, particularly girls.
The aim is to inspire and engage children to learn coding and encourage an interest in digital careers.
While focusing on learning programming and key skills such as tinkering and debugging while working with robots, children will also learn to overcome challenges, build resilience and perseverance.
