To our Parents and Carers
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work hard to do our best for your children and young people at this challenging time.
Following the Deputy First Minister's statement today, we have written to all Head Teachers this evening and they are working with us in order to make arrangement for the following issues:
- Completion of coursework for SQA exams
- Protection of vulnerable children and young people who rely on schools for meals and a safe and supportive environment
- Continuing access to learning and childcare for key workers - this will be via application from specified groups
- Providing meaningful learning experiences for children not attending school
It is likely that all secondary schools will remain open for children and young people in the above groups. A more limited number of primary schools will be open and these will be based on the data collated over the coming days. We hope to have arrangements in place for primary children by Wednesday 25 March at the latest.
Once we have made these arrangements, we will share this information with parents/carers via our social media feeds, our website and via group call. Parents/carers without digital means of communications will be contacted directly.
In addition, we are working to ensure the provision of childcare and learning for children of key workers. We will post details of how such workers can apply, via our website and social media feeds tomorrow.
Once again we ask for your patience and understanding. Please try not to contact schools unless your enquiry is urgent or related to these issues, to allow this work to proceed at pace.
