Scottish child payment and free school meal payment - Summer 2022

Scottish Child Payment 

The Scottish Child Payment will be made to eligible families during the week commencing 27 June 2022.

£130 will be made for each eligible child or young person in P1-S6, attending an Angus Council school.

You will receive a payment if you have a child in:

  • P1-P5 who is eligible for school clothing grant.
  • P6-S6 who was registered for free school meals between

30 May 2022 and 26 June 2022.

Payments are expected to be in bank accounts on, or around Wednesday 29 June 2022.


If you register for free school meals between 27 June 2022 and 29 June 2022, you will receive your payment at the end of July.  Registrations after this date are not eligible for the payment.

Pre-school aged children are not eligible for this payment. The Scottish Child Payment may be available for children under the age of six. To find out more and apply please visit mygov.scot

Free school meal payments

Families who qualify for free school meals based on financial criteria will receive a single direct payment of £72.60 to cover the holiday period. This payment will be in bank accounts on, or around, Wednesday 29 June 2022.

You will receive a payment if you have a child currently in:

  • P1-P5 who is in receipt of school clothing grant.
  • P6-S6 who is in receipt of free school meals during term time.

Arrangements are in place for free school meals payments of £72.60 to be made to families who become eligible for free school meals or school clothing grant during the holidays.
