We can confirm that we have received written confirmation that waste and recycling staff who are Unite the Union or GMB members will be taking industrial action locally next month.
Notice has been given by Unite the Union and GMB that, following a ballot of their members earlier this month, Angus Council waste and recycling staff will take part in strike action from Monday 8 November to Sunday 14 November 2021.
This will result in significant disruption to the waste and recycling services provided to Angus residents, including kerbside collections and the operation of recycling centres.
Industrial action relates to national - and not local - pay negotiations and we understand that COSLA remains in constructive dialogue with the aim of finding a satisfactory resolution.
We are assessing the likely impact on local services and will provide residents with information about known changes and disruption to our services at the earliest opportunity. We will also continue to keep our residents updated during the course of this industrial action.
Contrary to local reports, school-based janitorial staff and cleaners in Angus are not involved in the industrial action.
