Children and Learning Convener, Councillor Derek Wann said: “Although it’s not the end of term we’d hoped for, I’d like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to all children, young people, teachers and staff who have worked incredibly hard this year and dealt amazingly with the challenges faced following the outbreak of the coronavirus in March.
“We have a lot to be proud of in Angus, with everyone stepping up to make sure children got the best learning experience possible during this difficult and unusual time. Teachers and school staff have been using a variety of tools and creating various resources to share learning with children and parents, using the knowledge of their pupils and individual class achievements to ensure learning continued. I’d especially like to thank parents and families for their support with home learning.
“Following the Depute First Minister’s announcement last week, we await further guidance and will work to update our plans for children returning to schools in August. Schools will be in touch with parents as soon as possible with the new arrangements.
“I wish you all a safe and happy summer break and look forward to welcoming pupils back in August.”
