Request the removal of a dead animal

To request the removal of a dead animal use our online form or contact ACCESSLine 03452 777 778 giving the exact location. We will not uplift dead animals from private ground.

We will scan dogs and cats for micro-chips and use the information provided to contact the owner if possible. We will keep pets for a period of 48 hours for collection by their owner.

Dead seals ‒ or other marine animals ‒ that have been washed ashore should be reported immediately to the Scottish Strandings co-ordinator on 01463 243030, giving the:

  • precise location of the animal
  • time and date
  • condition of the animal
  • species, if known

Do not approach or touch stranded seals whether dead or alive as they can carry disease. We will remove dead seals of no interest to the Scottish Strandings co-ordinator, where accessible.

Live animals that are weak or injured should be reported to the SSPCA on 03000 999999.

We do not remove or uplift dead domestic pets. The responsibility for this rests with the pet owner.
