Microchips for dogs

By law, your dog must have a microchip implanted if it is more than eight weeks old.

You are responsible for making sure the details registered against the microchip (such as the owner's name and address) are up to date.

We don't fit microchips. For details of where and how you can get your dog microchipped, visit the Scottish Government website.

If your dog is found without a compliant microchip

You may have to pay a fee to the council and can be fined up to £500.

You can pay the fee via ACCESSLine on 03452 777 778.
