Special uplifts of household items

What to do with old furniture or other bulky household items that won't go in the bin.

If your bulky item can still be used

We recycle everything we can but it's better to reuse. Please consider giving items to charity.

Several organisations in Angus accept donations of large household items. Some will collect from your home.

Find out more on our donate unwanted household goods and furniture page.

How to arrange a special uplift

Check we accept the items you want to dispose of. There is a list further down this page.

Then use our online form to arrange a special uplift. We currently only accept online applications for special uplifts.

Arrange a special uplift (myaccount registration required)

We'll give you a choice of collection dates. The collection can be scheduled up to four weeks in advance but we usually uplift items within five working days of payment. Collection may be the day after your scheduled collection if there is high demand for the service.

Leave items outside your house and as close to the kerbside as possible, for example at the bottom of a drive, by 7am on the day of collection. We cannot enter houses, garages or sheds.

There must be clear access to your items.

To cancel, please contact us by 3pm the day before your uplift.

Items we collect

Before you organise and pay for a special uplift, make sure the items you are getting rid of appear on this list:

Fridges and freezers

Fridges, fridge freezers and upright or chest freezers must not contain food, food residue or stagnant water.

If you are requesting uplift of a commercial style fridge or freezer used for domestic purposes, we’ll ask you to upload a photo.
