After school clubs, breakfast clubs and holiday clubs

Out of school services offer a safe and stimulating space for school-age children before or after school hours, or during holidays.

They must be registered with the Care Inspectorate if they run for more than two hours a day and more than six days per year.

Find an out of school service near you by searching the 'out of school care' category on The Scottish Family Information Service website.

Angus Extra offers a range of extra-curricular activities for secondary school pupils on Friday afternoons.

Childminders

Childminders look after children in their own home. They are self-employed so set their own charges and hours of business. They are inspected and registered by the Care Inspectorate.

Find local childminders using the Scottish Family Information Service website.

Babysitters

The law doesn't specify a minimum age for babysitters but if you ask someone under the age of 16 to babysit, you are held responsible if your child comes to any harm.

You should also check the rules about the hours that children under 16 can work.
