NHS Test & Protect will ask children and young people aged five to 17 who are identified as a close contact to self-isolate and book a PCR test. If their test is positive, they should continue to self-isolate. If their test is negative and they don’t have any Covid symptoms, their self-isolation ends and they can return to school.

If there’s a case at your child’s school and you’ve not been contacted, it means they are not a close contact and can continue to attend school as usual.
