How to become a foster carer

We realise becoming a foster carer is a big decision so we're always happy to answer any questions you have at any stage in the process.

The first step

Come along to one of our events or use our enquiry form to register your interest, ask questions or request an information pack. This has everything you need to know about how fostering in Angus works.

Home visit

If you've asked for an information pack we'll send it out immediately. We'll then call you within the week to arrange a home visit.

Preparation training

The next stage after the home visit is preparation training. This takes place over two or three days and really gives you a feel for what fostering is all about. After the preparation training we will reach a decision together about applying to become a foster carer.

How long it takes

From then the process usually takes around six months.
