Civil partnership registration

A civil partnership can take place in a registration office or at an approved place.

Each of you must complete and submit a civil partnership notice, along with the required documents to the registrar for the district where the ceremony is to take place.

The fees on this page apply to the period up until 31 March 2024.

After registration

After your civil partnership has been registered, the registrar will give you a certificate of the entry in the register. 

Additional extracts can be obtained at the time of registration, or within a month, for £10 each. After one month the cost will be £15 for the first extract then £10 per subsequent extract.

Fees include:

  • the statutory fees for Civil Partnership Notice at £45 per person
  • one civil partnership certificate at £10
  • registration fee of £55
  • accommodation fee where applicable

There is an additional premium for registrations in evenings, Saturday, Sunday or Public Holidays.

*The lower fee applies to an office registration/ceremony where there are 10 people or fewer present, including the main party.

Check with your local office to see the maximum amount of guests who can be present at your ceremony.
