End date
26 January 2018
Information

On 1 November 2016 full planning permission (planning application 16/00354/FULM) for the development of a 9.4 hectare greenfield site adjacent to East Muirlands Road, Arbroath for the erection of 287 dwellings, the formation of associated open space and parking and the provision of infrastructure was approved by the Development Standards Committee (report 382/16).

Local Elected Members from the Arbroath West & Letham ward requested that consideration be given to introducing traffic calming measures to Gallowden Road between East Muirlands Road and the Westway to discourage drivers from using this route.

Following a public consultation exercise Angus Council’s Communities Committee, on Tuesday 14th November 2017, agreed that four 75mm high road humps should be installed on Gallowden Road, Arbroath.

The Committee also agreed that another consultation exercise should be undertaken regarding the installation of additional 75mm high road humps on Gallowden Avenue and Gallowden Crescent, Arbroath (see plan of the proposal). It is anticipated that these additional road humps will reduce the speed of traffic on Gallowden Avenue and Gallowden Crescent and will discourage drivers from using this route as a short cut between East Muirlands Road and the Westway.

Under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 local authorities must consult with interested parties, including Police, Ambulance and Fire Services along with you as the occupiers of house frontages on affected streets. Therefore your opinion is being sought on whether or not you are in agreement with the installation of road humps on Gallowden Avenue and Gallowden Crescent, Arbroath.
