On 1 November 2016 full planning permission (Planning Application 16/00345/FULM) for the development of a 9.4 hectare greenfield site adjacent to East Muirlands Road, Arbroath for the erection of 287 dwellings, the formation of associated open space and parking and the provision of infrastructure was approved by the Development Standards Committee (Report 382/16).

Following the committee meeting local elected members from the Arbroath West & Letham ward requested that consideration be given to introducing traffic calming measures to Gallowden Road between East Muirlands Road and the Westway to discourage traffic from using this road.

Gallowden Road, East Muirlands Road, Gallowden Avenue and Gallowden Crescent residents are being asked for their views on a proposal to install traffic calming measures on Gallowden Road, Arbroath between East Muirlands Road and the Westway.

The proposal involves the installation of 4 75mm high speed humps on Gallowden Road. It is envisaged that the proposed speed humps will reduce the speed of traffic between east Muirlands Road and Westway.
