The retail floorspace survey is divided into the following sections for all seven towns in Angus:
1. Central Area Survey
The Central Area is identified as per the Town Centre Boundary in the Angus Local Development Plan (2016). This survey includes all activities including comparison and convenience retail; retail, leisure and financial and business services; other uses; vacant retail/service; and vacant other buildings.
2. All Town Survey
The All Town is identified as per the Development Boundary in the Angus Local Development Plan (2016) and includes the Central Area. This survey only includes comparison and convenience retail; retail services; and vacant retail/service.
3. All Town Property Monitor
The All Town is identified as per the Development Boundary in the Angus Local Development Plan (2016) and includes the Central Area. This property monitor includes all of the non domestic properties.
This retail floorspace survey is based on the Scottish Assessors Association’s Non-Domestic Valuation Roll in May 2017. It is also supported by a single on‐site observation from the public realm in June 2017.
From 2012 the classification of activity has changed from URPI (Unit for Retail Planning Information) to GOAD codes. GOAD codes are a historical codification for mapping individual buildings and their uses.
