Autumn fun 2023

We are offering, with local partner organisations, a range of fun, free/affordable activities for children, young people and families during the October holidays.

Local activities throughout Angus

There’s lots to see and do in Angus, with plenty of outdoor activities, museums, parks and beaches.

ASN Taxi Offer

Transport will be available for travel throughout Angus using the approved operators. Please quote "AutumnFun2023" when booking. Travel is available to family members accompanying the eligible child and limited to two return journeys per family per week.

Contact information will be sent directly to families via Groupcall week beginning 25 September 2023.

Activities and support for young people

The 16+ team are hosting activities for young people (aged 16 to 19) leaving or recently left school and looking for support with their next steps.

They offer cooking sessions, archery taster sessions, ten-pin bowling, and other excursions and activities. Lunch and refreshments provided.

There are half and full day sessions Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the October holiday.

The team also hold drop-in sessions where you can meet the locality 16+ support worker:

  • Montrose: Mohub, Tuesdays between 12noon and 3pm
  • Forfar: Green Leaf Cafe, Myre Road, Thursdays between 1:30pm and 4:30pm
  • Carnoustie: Carnoustie Hub, Thursdays between 2pm and 4pm
  • Brechin: The Crickety, Thursdays between 12:30pm and 4:30pm
  • Arbroath: 3-5 Catherine Street, Fridays between 1pm and 3.30pm

Arbroath

Autumn family fun with free activities and lunch

Keptie Scout Hall, 7 Keptie Street, Tuesday 3 October from 11am to 1pm

Animal handling, yoga, arts and crafts, storytelling, music, science activities, games and much more! Local organisations will also be there.

Skilz Academy

Half-day sessions of glow/multisport and DJ activities. Booking information.


Friockheim

The Hub at Friockheim: range of activities for children of all ages.

Friockheim Park: family fun, food and games.


Brechin

Brechin Golf Club: footgolf and lunch. Call 01356 625270 to book, quote ‘Autumn Fun23’ when booking.

Brechin Youth Project: weekly cooking and baking sessions.

Brechin Buccaneers: pick up a food bag.

Brechin Buccaneers - Multi sport and cricket sessions for 8 to 13 year olds. 9 to 12 October from 1pm to 3pm at The Crickety.

Pot luck lunch: sharing meals, recipes and ingredients that will feed a family

Friday 13 October, 11am to 3pm

Forfar

Strathmore Community Rugby Trust: multi-sport activity sessions with packed lunch for primary school-aged children.

Voluntary Action Angus: crafts, games and fun activities with hot food provision.

Murton Trust

Family Fun Activities, farm entries, soup lunches and soup bags available at Murton this autumn. Booking essential. Book on the events section on the Murton website. Use Autumnfun23 as a promo code to make the event free! 

Murton Trust are also offering short work experience placements for young people aged 14 plus. Young people will be encouraged to complete Saltire Award certification during this time to acknowledge the volunteering hours they commit. Young people will be offered snacks and lunches each day they attend, they will be given a t-shirt for uniform that can be worn over warmer clothing. We ask that young people attend a minimum of 4 days over the holidays where ever possible. For more information contact Murton Trust.

Montrose

Montrose Playhouse

As part of Angus Council's Autumn fun programme, the Montrose Playhouse has a limited number of funded tickets available and would like to offer families the opportunity to come along to any of our family screenings free of charge. Film times and details on our website. Call 07395 071636 and quote 'AC23' to book. When booking please let us know if you require a packed lunch.

MYPlace are holding a LEGO club.

Montrose Community Trust and Community Hub are running Physical activity sessions and food distribution in rural areas, Links Park Stadium, and the MoHUB.

YMCA Montrose (MoHUB) have free multi activity (gaming/indoor and outdoor games) with the provision of food.
